"Somehow, I've Got to Find A Way"

Snow falling through the atmosphere

Covering the ground that was so clear

Tonight is a blizzard, is anybody here.

It started last year when you went away

Whether springtime or summer

Seems it's always the same.

The coldness follows me

Will things ever change

Somehow I've got to find a way.

A way to shelter my broken heart

             From the cold, cold world

             That's tearing me apart

             I need something that I can't find

             Can I get a witness

             Someone to help me cry

Lord knows I need to find a way.

They say when the ice forms

On the edges of ones heart

It seems to find a way inside.

Turns them inside out

Spinning all around

Makes the daylight look like night.

Tonight I find myself

A stranger to my mind

I  need all the help I can find.

    I can't take another day

    Somehow I've got to

    Got to find a way

A way to shelter my broken heart

              From the cold,cold world

              That's tearing me apart

              I need something I can't find

              Can I get a witness

              Someone to help me cry

Lord knows I need to find a way.

I know....

Lord knows....

I can't take another day...

Somehow I've got to find a way....

:) Thanks my new friend.........I'm good !! :) I scour the earth for emotions to put to verse. Sometimes, it is a total piece about myself, sometimes I use observations of others and sometimes a combo. I'm going on forty years of this writing thing, LOL. Song writing and verse are a hard core addiction of mine. :) ((((hugs)))) back at ya Jaxx!! :)

I envy those with poetic talent. I have written one poem my entire life. It's called Kyros Time. I am trying to get my Hubby, who has the day off today, to email it to me so I can share. I wrote it so long ago I can't remember it. My hubbs is the poet...he is also published. Very talented. It's a part of my brain I can't seem to unlock and put to use. I love to draw and paint, but words to paper is a struggle for me.

Jaxx, don't feel badly. I can't write anything to save my life. I can't paint or draw. I did have some musical talent at one point in my life, but it's been so long since I've even picked up my viola that I fear that it's now gone, too.

Not "gone" my friend...perhaps laying "dormant?" Try picking it up again and see what happens...I bet it's like riding a bike

Queenie, Jaxx is correct. I can go two years without picking up the guitar and it is still there. Just have to toughen the callouses (on the fingertips). That's always fun....ouch!! Like barbed wire at first. :)

Thank you ms!! :) That is avery good description. It definitely takes strength to honestly write. You can write the happiest piece in the world and there will that "other side of the coin". I feel that it's not real if only "happy, happy, happy" Maybe that's just me. I have to root through it all, or it feels incompltete. Thanks again my friend. Also, I checked out the enigma video. It was very good thanks!! :)

Absolutely!!!!!!!!! On my lunch break I went over to Panera to get a salad, I got cut off by some red neck chick in a beat up Taurus...as she sped up and cut me off she actually looked right at me and smiled. Then, as I was waiting for my salad, I noticed at least five customers leave their beeper/buzzer things on the counter when they grabbed their food...completely not noticing the big RETURN caddys that you are supposed to put them in...then I was cut off again on my ride back to work by some old dude. Seriously...we all need to breathe and pay attention to our surroundings...and stop being so evil aka chick in Taurus. Lol

Ahh...but Queenie....just because you own an older Taurus does not mean you are a red neck! I mean...this girl was the definition of evil...you should have seen the smile on her face as she cut me off. I should have slammed into her but what good would it have done? In retrospect...I think I did the right thing by slamming on my breaks and just letting her go on her red necky merry way...lmao

Deeply emotional poem, D/C. I was worried when reading it then when reading your reply to others, you seemed to be OK. However, expressions of words are processed through our being…You can always contact me via newsvine if you wish.

Sometimes, when we can finally fully accept the pain, loss and situation… because we are powerless and unable to change it, the wounds seems to heal and the pain is not so pronounced. The love & desire will always be there… but the pain and longing seems to lessen. Like standing on an electric grid being shocked with no way out. Once one fully accepts there is no hope and powerless to make the change, one can just sit down on that electric grid and no longer feels the pain. We call this “learned helplessness” Most unfortunately these experiements were actually carried out in scientific research using cats! :~((

I do understand “learned helplessness", as I have read about this as well. I'm glad you could feel emotion in this work. There is alot to be said about this for sure. I would be honored to contact you my friend. :) Thank you so much Nina. :)

I believe you do understand the feelings associated with “learned helplessness" It is an experience like none other.

I lived and felt just like that cat sitting down on that electric grid. I would have done anything to save my brother. When I realized he was making the decision to die, there was absolutely nothing I could do to prevent it or change his mind. I argued, yelled, begged and pleated with him hoping to make some impact or change his mind. I realized I was sitting down on the electric grid when I told him good bye for the very last time. Finally, down on my knees, I had to let him go because I had absolutely NO power or ability to change the events that were occurring and continued to occur. At least he is no longer in emotional pain. I guess that is positive. Take care my friend…

Nina, much love my sister. :) I know for a fact, that we have traveled similar roads. That is heart breaking to know you endured that. I have so much respect for you, that it would take me years to describe it. I went through the same with my (unitsi...mother). I can actually relate to your words, but it goes so much deeper, You are a great friend and I'm honored to know you. :)

Thank You for such a kind response. I am sure you have experienced much loss too which causes one to travel often in unfamaliar paths... "the road less traveled" by robert frost. It can be a very lonely world and one way to cope with that is through our Creative imagination.
